KRZ-3 Vertical-Axis Rotary Cutter (Rotary Slasher)

Based on our nearly 20 years of experience in manufacturing horizontal-axis flail mowers - and in response to growing market demands - we have also begun the development and production of vertical-axis rotary cutters. In January 2017, we manufactured a 10-unit pilot series, which achieved excellent results during operation across thousands of hectares. Following the successful testing period, mass production of the KRZ-3 rotary cutter, featuring a 3-meter working width, began in the winter of 2018.

The KRZ-3 is built to meet modern agricultural requirements, utilizing and further developing the experiences gained from previous designs. The frame structure features a double-deck design (upper and lower sheet metal covers), which prevents the accumulation of dirt and crop debris, thereby making operation simpler and more reliable.

Heavy-Duty Drivetrain and Gearboxes

The reliable operation of the machine is ensured by Italian-made Comer gearboxes, a brand we have successfully utilized for many years. These gearboxes allow for a higher rotational speed: at a 540 RPM PTO speed, with a 1.93 gear ratio, the rotor speed reaches 1,042 RPM, compared to the previous 810 RPM. This increase in speed significantly improves the quality of the cut and mulch.

Power transmission between the main central gearbox and the outer gearboxes is provided by heavy-duty drive shafts. The connection to the tractor is facilitated by a standard PTO shaft and a Walterscheid PTO shaft equipped with a slip clutch and an overrunning clutch (freewheel). The latter is capable of transmitting 1,270 Nm of torque, guaranteeing reliable operation even in extremely dense vegetation. This is a significant upgrade over earlier, lower-capacity solutions where the clutch would often burn out in dense crops or at higher working speeds. During our extensive testing, there was no need for a single friction disc replacement.

The drivelines and gearboxes are protected from external debris and damage by enclosed safety guards.

High-Efficiency Cutting System

The two rotor hubs are equipped with a total of 8 swinging rotary blades, which are mounted on 35 mm diameter pins and secured with castle nuts and cotter pins. The shredding efficiency is further enhanced by side-mounted stationary counter-knives built into the deck.

Reinforced Wheel Assembly and Hydraulics

The machine features a newly reinforced wheel assembly equipped with wider and stronger tires. This drastically reduces the risk of the implement sinking into soft soil, ensuring that the blades do not make unwanted ground contact.

A hydraulic system allows for a quick and easy transition between the lowered working position and the raised transport position directly from the tractor cab. Standard road lighting, required for public road transport, is also included as standard equipment.

The KRZ-3 is excellently suited for shredding and mowing tall, dense vegetation, such as:

• Corn and sunflower crop residues
• Reeds and heavy brush
• Weed-infested, neglected areas
• Pasture maintenance and topping
