KB 3011 B Flail Mower - Precise Mulching and Reliability

The KB 3011 B flail mower, with a 3-meter working width, is designed primarily for small to medium-sized farms where reliable, efficient, and economical operation is essential. The machine can be easily operated with the widely used MTZ (Belarus) tractors. The flail mower is excellently suited for mulching tall and dense vegetation, whether it is corn stalks, sunflowers, pastures, or overgrown, weed-infested areas.

Construction and Operation

The working width of the machine is 3,000 mm, and its transport width is 3,300 mm. In the transport position, it is carried as a fully mounted implement, while during operation, it works in a ground-following mode, rolling on two caster wheels. The cutting height (adjustable between 0 and 250 mm), as well as the working track width, can be adjusted via the wheel assembly. The KB 3011 B flail mower is suitable for mulching 4 rows of corn or sunflowers in a single pass.

Rotor Assembly and Mulching System

The machine is equipped with a single rotor shaft featuring a swinging flail design. The rotor is a hot-rolled, S355 grade steel tube with a 10 mm wall thickness, onto which heavy-duty mounting lugs are welded. The flails are mounted on 25 mm diameter pins and secured with self-locking nuts.

As standard equipment, the rotor is fitted with:

• 96 Italian-made Muzzi Y-flails (42 HRC hardness)

Available upon request is a hammer flail version, equipped with:

• 36 hammer flails

The number of flails is significantly higher compared to similar machines on the market, providing double coverage that results in an extremely fine mulch. The Y-flails are double-edged, allowing them to be reversed after wear; a single set is capable of covering 1,000-1,500 hectares.

Note: Different types of flails cannot be simply interchanged on the same rotor, as the weight differences between flail types can cause severe vibration at high RPMs.

Balancing and Safety

The rotor shafts undergo computerized dynamic balancing, ensuring smooth, vibration-free operation. A lack of proper balancing can cause resonance, leading to the failure of both the implement and the tractor. If necessary, the shafts can be returned to us for re-balancing at a later time (e.g., after severe flail wear or striking an obstacle).

Versatile Application

The flail mower can be ordered with:

• Y-flails: For arable field operations (corn, sunflower stubble).
• Hammer flails: For neglected, brushy, and woody areas.

It is also possible to order a complete separate rotor shaft, allowing two completely different types of work to be performed with a single machine.

Drivetrain and Construction

The reliable operation of the machine is ensured by an Italian Comer gearbox, which the manufacturer has successfully used for over 18 years. Power delivery is provided by a heavy-duty PTO shaft equipped with an overrunning clutch (freewheel).

Power transmission between the gearbox and the main rotor shaft is achieved via:

• A 6-groove V-belt drive
• Machined steel V-belt pulleys, which are far more resilient than traditional cast iron pulleys and will not crack during maintenance.

Efficient Operation

More efficient mulching is assisted by two rows of stationary counter-knives mounted to the inner housing shell.

The machine features an adjustable rear hood (tailgate):

• Closed position: Maximizes suction and ensures a finer mulch (ideal for corn and sunflowers).
• Open position: Allows for faster operating speeds and high throughput in dense material (ideal for pastures).
